SACC held our 95th annual Cherry Blossom Poker Drive, Saturday, April 13, 2024. The weather was good most of the day, it started sprinkling late in the afternoon, but it didn’t amount to much until most of us were already home. It’s always hard to judge how many cars we have since some people buy more than one score card. We estimated close to 300 cars. We sold 404 score cards, collected $410 for Marion Polk Food Share and 287 lbs. of food. Thank you, Tom Schmid from Willamette Valley Street Rods, for delivering the food to Marion Polk Food Share for us.
We extended the drive to sixty-five miles this year. Thank you to Joe and Pat Peters for mapping out the route for us. The drive consisted of six stops. Willamette Valley Street Rods handled registration at Harbor Freight. The stops this year were the Brown House in Stayton, hosted by the Rollin Oldies, Willamette Pie Co. hosted by the Capital City Corvettes, Silverton Country Historical Museum, hosted by the Silverton Flywheels, Woodburn Drag Strip, hosted by the Woodburn Drag Strip Rep. James Taylor and wife Buffy, Scenic Valley Farms Winery, hosted by the Road Lords, and the last stop, Northwest Vintage Car & Motorcycle Museum, where everyone turned in their score cards was hosted by Capitol Area Mustang Club and Willamette Valley Corvette Association. Winning first place with four kings was Cherie Eder($100 prize), second place, with four jacks was Lance Williams($75) and with four ten’s was Angie Stewart($50). Cherie Eder donated her $100 back to the club(thank you very much Cherie). Winner of the battery tender donated by Batteries Northwest was Stephanie Massie.
Thank you to everyone that showed up that day supporting SACC. Special thanks to the clubs that worked on the event….

Thank you to everyone that participated in our 92nd Annual Poker Drive/Run on April 17th. It was such a fun day with over 250 cars there. This is the first year we've had dash plaques to give to all that participated. It took awhile to go through all 415 scorecards and judge the poker hands but we did it.. We didn't want to announce the winners until we were able to notify all of them. The winners are: Theresa Segerson, Neotsu, OR. with four of a kind, 1st place($100), 2nd place, Judi Herschbach, with a full house, Salem, ($75) and 3rd place David Willard, Dallas, with a full house ($50). Roy Petzel won the Battery Tender Jr.
We collected 303 lbs. of food for Marion Polk Food Share and $330 in cash. With the sale of the poker hands we are able to make a generous donation to the Salem Boys and Girls Club.
A big thank you to the businesses and organizations that hosted the poker stops for us. Thank you, Deepwood Museum and Gardens, Willamette Valley Fruit Co., Benedictine Sisters (Monastery), Scenic Valley Farms Winery, Egan Nurseries & Gardens and the NW Vintage Car/Motorcycle Museum. Thank you to Walery's Pizza for the coffee in the morning and Batteries Northwest (Travis and Teresa Sowers) for donating the battery tender Jr. door prize.
The Salem Auto Club Council voted to donate all of the proceeds this year to two charities. We are able to give each group $1,050. Our charities for 2021 are: Boys and Girls Club of Salem, Marion and Polk Counties and Northwest Vintage Car and Motorcycle Museum, Speedster Program.
We were so pleased to be able to make a donation this year after not being able to have our Cherry Blossom Poker Drive/Run in 2020.
